God Wants My Life to be Hard

If that title doesn’t get you in the festive spirit, I don’t know what will!

One has to wonder what would possess me to write such a post today. Well, my inspiration knows no season you guys, I write simply when my creative spirit pleases to.

And today I realized something very important, and I want to share it with you all:

God wants my life to be hard.

It’s the only explanation I could come up with to fathom why obstacles always seem to find themselves in front of me.

I am not religious – per se, I consider myself more of a spiritual type. I believe that the Universe is powerful, has life and energy, and often I refer to this energy simply as God.

And this God wants me to struggle.

I’m sure many of you have felt this way before. Thought to yourself that sometimes it seems like your life is extra hard. Like everyone has a somewhat hard life, but maybe yours is extra hard?

This inner dialogue has been circulating within me today. But it just kept leading me back to the same place: God wants my life to be hard.

Why?

The answer finally came to me.

Because each obstacle challenges me. Each obstacle asks for a greater, better me. And then each me is forced to rise to the occasion.

I don’t believe in a Universe that punishes the innocent. Therefore, I have to believe that I am challenged to become better not so I can be in pain, but so I can do great things in the world.

Thank God for my obstacles. Because without them I am experienceless. Without them, I am ill equipped to change the world. Without them, I cannot do my work.

I am blessed to live a challenged life. I have gratitude for every tough day.

Without them, I wouldn’t be who I am today.

And because of my tough life, I will continue to get better.

God wants my life to be hard – thank god!

Jen I’ve found the more life knocks you down, and you get fight your way up, the harder it is to get knocked down again. Keep helping people with the love and joy you show and tell those backround voices they don’t know what they are talking about. Thank you for sharing your anxiety journey. Our family also has had a journey of its own. Merry Christmas from Gary’s aunt.

You have such a positive perspective in times of hardship! As you probably know by this point, I am a Christian, and even from a Biblical perspective this certainly has truth. One of my favorite verses that identify with this is Romans 5:4, “We can rejoice too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our hope…” I think that there is definitely something big to be said about what is developed in us from hard things we face. It also makes us relevant to others and allows us to connect and encourage others going through something similar. Thank you for sharing this thought provoking post! I love that you contemplate these aspects of life, it’s so refreshing from superficial conversation that surrounds us daily!

I really do love this post! I also believe your obstacles become your testimony, and you are right, they are your challenges to actually move you to a higher level in life.

I truly believe that God allows us to go through certain periods of times/difficulties to better ourselves AND others. Going through hardships makes us stronger and teaches us new things; furthermore, when we share about it, you never know who you’re impacting/helping, just by simply sharing your story/experience.

Not to get too deep/preachy, but when we look in the Bible, there are SO many followers who went through some really, really tough times — especially Job — and yet, we can learn so much because of him and others.
