Holy Basil Iced Tea

I’ve been doing something brilliant lately: making time for myself.

You never know how easy it can be. For me, it can be something as simple as sitting outside for ten minutes in the sun and just being. Actually, that is exactly what I’ve been doing more of lately. Yup, here in Canada, summer is upon us! I love it.

I still remember the sunny summer weeks that I spent all day working through and all night drinking away.

Things have obviously changed – but let me tell you, my delight for a relaxing summer beverage hasn’t.

Do you guys remember the post I did awhile ago highlighting the benefits of Holy Basil tea? Go and check it out if you are particularly curious about the benefits – it has a lot of support for us especially anxious folks!

Lately I’ve been feeling inspired to make a more summer appropriate version of this totally stellar tea. So who wants Holy Basil Iced Tea? (I made plenty!)

Ingredients

  • 4 TBSP Holy Basil Tea
  • 2 TSP fresh ginger, minced
  • Pinch of Himalayan salt
  • 1 fresh lime, plus extra slices for serving

Directions

Infuse 4 TBSP of Holy Basil tea, as well as your fresh ginger, into 10 cups of cold, filtered water. Allow about 8-12 hours for the infusion – and keep it stored in the fridge.

Once the infusion is complete, add the juice from one fresh lime and a pinch of Himalayan salt.

I recommend it served over ice, and it’s up to you if you want to add a pinch of honey or maple syrup to sweeten it.

For 3 days after I made this, I brought a jar of it with me everywhere. Kind of like how a puppy might parade around its favorite bone. I’m just so hyped on this.

I also feel like I’ve kind of opened Pandora’s box – I mean, my pantry is full of different kinds of teas… I wonder what I could come up with next ; )

  1. […] Holy basil has a reputation for balancing blood sugar levels and regulating cortisol. It is typically made into a tea – I enjoy it warm, but if you’re up for an alternative check out my recipe for Holy Basil Iced Tea ! […]
