It’s been way too long since my last vacation.
These past few years I’ve had day trips or a few nights away, but let’s get real: I’m desperate to dip my toes in the sand. Feel the sun on my skin. Get my hair wet in the ocean. I know I’m not alone there!
Even a small reminder of those times gets a warm welcome right now. That was really the inspiration for this smoothie. I wanted the kind of drink you order at a swim-up bar, but healthified.
This Tropical Turmeric Smoothie is really perfect first thing in the morning. Pineapple and ginger are both supportive of digestion. Plus the curcumin in turmeric is known for helping to reduce inflammation. And of course, it also just tastes really good.
Careful though – don’t go too heavy handed. A lot of turmeric can be hard on the stomach, especially if you don’t consume it often. Keep the quantities small if you haven’t built up a tolerance yet.
Ready to start the day off right?
- 1/2 banana
- 3/4 cup frozen pineapple
- 1/3 cup coconut cream (from can)
- 1 cup filtered water
- 1/8 TSP turmeric
- 1 thumb of ginger
Add all ingredients to the blender and mix on medium until all ingredients are blended well.
I used to drink a smoothie almost every single day, but lately that habit has trailed off. I really want to start making them more often because they really are a super easy snack and you can jam pack them with nutrients. If you’re having it for breakfast, you can even add a bit of vanilla protein powder too!
